Ozone and Health Treatment: Processing Applications
Although ozone therapy is part of complementary therapies, experts believe that the need for further scientific evidence to support its use
The indications for this treatment are becoming more numerous and carry out different medical specialties. One use that has been popular cosmetic rejuvenation therapy, though in reality, any ozone therapy treatment for any disease improves skin appearance. A portion of the orthopedic community also uses ozone to treat a herniated disc, but not everyone supports this method.
Another use of the latest, still experimental, is its application peritoneal, which by now has been tested in animal models (mice and rabbits), and may be useful as an aid to conventional therapy to treat tumors in the colon, rectum or different locations in the abdomen.
Other applications, protagonists of the debates on this subject held recently in Barcelona, they are likely to be useful in the future for their role in diseases such as dementia, AIDS and arthritis. In patients with AIDS, the ozone treatment is applied as high autohemotherapy and rectally, for its properties as antigermicida (to help reduce virus viral load to be weaker) and to improve the immune system (and avoid immunocompromised patients contract the opportunistic infections).
In contrast, in osteoarthritis the main objective is to reduce pain, inflammation, and gain flexibility as well as stop the degenerative process and help the patient to lower doses of anti-inflammatories and even to disregard them. In this case, ozone therapy is administered directly into the diseased joint, in doses of 10 cc. After the initial sessions, which are closer together, is used as maintenance therapy.
