Spanish Military Doctors Providing Health Care for Afghan
Military medical Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT) Spanish Qala-e-Naw (Afghanistan) conducted in collaboration with local authorities, a project for medical examination of children in a slum in the city.
Framed in the context of quick-impact projects carried out by civilian-military team (CIMIC) of the PRT, the doctors of the Spanish contingent in the morning set up a medical post yesterday recognition for children in the neighborhood would give Shamail Pashtun , north of Qala-e-Naw.
In collaboration with the mullah of the area, the CIMIC team had prepared in advance a list of all children who live with priority health problems. The physicians recognized during the morning for a total of 54 children aged between two months and nine years. With the help of the interpreters of the quota, Dr. Gimeno local representatives indicated the treatment to be followed by every child, providing the respective drugs. The most common illnesses were respiratory and intestinal.
Keep in mind that in many areas of the country, TB is endemic and the water is not drinkable, a situation exacerbated by the absence of drains. This causes often sewage seeping into the subsoil and are absorbed by the plantations of fruits, vegetables and cereals.
CIMIC teams carried out numerous quick-impact projects, with which they manage to overcome many problems and needs of the civilian population of the area, effectively contributing to improving their living conditions.
